This afternoon the chancellor Rishi Sunek has announced that the stamp duty holiday for house buyers will be extended for a further 3 months until the end of June 2021
No stamp duty will be paid on residential properties up to the value of £500,000 before 30th June 2021
No stamp duty to be paid on residential properties up to the value of £250,000 before 30th September 2021
From October 1st 2021, stamp duty will return to properties over £125,000
The Chancellor also confirmed a new scheme to provide mortgages to homebuyers who put forward only a 5 per cent deposit, with a government guarantee.
What does this mean to the housing market?
